We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

They had apple pie for sale in the cafeteria, but my department was handing out free cake for the company to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Federal Register (the federal government's daily updates of all proposed and final regulations, it's probably the most-used resource by the legal writers at my company).

Sorry, pi(e), you lose out to free cake.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's the sort of software I was thinking of, vw, except for adults. I've never used it, and wonder about its worth.

Mostly lurking...

I use it for my papers and big projects. I find it really helpful. I even used it to mind-map my "book." I've found it entirely worthwhile, but then again, I'm weird with this kind of stuff. I like doing the pre-writing and stuff.

Emily actually just installed it on her computer too, but I think that was for teaching purposes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I actually have the bibliography typed up already -- had to hand it in yesterday. Now I need to get the useful stuff out of the books and stuff and into the paper. Which I have yet to start writing. So it's less about the citation and more about the two good quotes I'm going to want to use, once I find them.

Okay word nerds....

Is there a word that means stevedore, but on the boat, instead of on the dock at port? What's the onboard job title of the guy who's in charge of all tha cargo.

I feel like there's a specific word for that position that I'm not remembering.

I am getting to work! Slowly but surely. I have to have a draft done April 10 -- I'm trying to be proactive here!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Loadmaster?

(That was a complete stab in the dark.)

eta: That seems to only apply to aircraft.

Supercargo? I know that's a word for someone or other on a ship.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Supercargo?

ETA: Yeep. Scroll down to the esses.
