Natter 43: I Love My Dead Gay Whale Crosspost.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm not eating anything with the potential to crawl back up my throat under its own power.
I am in Sara's corner.
Along the lines of eat anything, Lori and I listened to the Deep Ending Dining guy on the radio. Some of the things he has eaten give me the wiggins.
I've been reading about food recently, at least as it pertains to history. The Mongols are a nomadic people and historical their diet was heavy on the meat/dairy end of the spectrum. When they invaded China in the 1200s, they viewed the Chinese as akin to cows since, like cows, they were grass eaters. Conversely, the chinese viewed any partaking of dairy products as lower class, like the barbarian invaders. And that dislike of dairy persists until today.

So, did they, um, nevermind, I'm not sure I want to know.
TAR has a kind of funny geeky team! Who I love already. "We're sort of
the ultimate threat. She kills at card games.
And I'm
really good at taking tests."
(Just a funny quote, nothing really spoilery since we're two minutes into the season.)
You need to enlighten us more (or, you can send me any papers that result, cause I'm curious.)
I think the only veggie I don't like that I know of is brussel sprouts. It's not that I hate them, I just can happily do without. The bitterness or something. But I do really like to peel them apart! So cute! Mini cabbages! Or, as what prompted my brother to finally eat them, shrunken heads!
I had sheep intestines last month (grilled) and they weren't bad.
Baaing tripe! I've never eaten a mammalian meatbit I found ooky. When I read the Ramona Quimby books, I
begged
my mom to buy beef tongue, and she didn't. I was so disappointed.
I roasted some awesome brussels sprouts the other week. Everything is good roasted.

Yeah, that was hilarious. It's nice to already have people to hate, too.
I blame you all for the black noodles I had tonight.
The one thing I can't bear, texture-wise, is water chestnuts. Gah. I have mushroom issues too, but the chestnuts are the worst.
Is this the diced white stuff that sort of has the texture of ice? Whatever
that
it's the worst of the crunchy vegetables.
I don't even mind like broccoli and the like, it just goes so poorly with, say, greasy glass noodles.
I do like me some dim sum.
I love
team geek
too.
I just read about a new book where a guy travels around eating illegal, inderground foods. It sounded totally disgusting:

I doubt it will surprise anyone here, but Shonda Rhimes is a Buffy fan.

“That’s not out of left field. It’s not something I consciously set out to do or planned for, but I loved ‘Friends.’ I watched ‘Friends.’ I’m still not over the loss of that show, or of ‘Buffy,’ which was a show that at its heart was about relationships.”
Q:Talk about influencing how people speak, I think Joss Whedon is probably the most influential writer on people of our generation.
“Yes. He’s amazing. I still miss ‘Buffy’ and ‘Angel.’”
Is this the diced white stuff that sort of has the texture of ice? >Whatever that it's the worst of the crunchy vegetables.
Those are the evil water chestnuts.
I like this season of TAR better already!
Also, on GG, Quester:
how old should Gigi be? I really don't remember. Also -- LANE & Zack!!! Wasn't she cute when she was all confuzzled with newly engaged love? They'll be taking Luke and Lorelai's wedding date, right?
Water chestnuts are awesome! You crazies probably hate jicama, too, huh?
Awww, Shonda is one of us!
