Ugh, ita. I was thinking the same thing earlier, after someone I know got yet another description of what's wrong, but neither why nor what to do.
In news about me, it's 65 here, supposed to be low of 45 tonight. What do I wear out? I was considering a t-shirt and denim jacket because it's been so gorgeous, but not if it's going down to 45! Maybe I'll wear a light sweater and the same jacket.
I like the sound of instant runoff elections where you vote for more than one candidate. I think it could open things up a bit.
Australia effectively has that. In the House it doesn't really open things up that much. We do occasionally get an independent voted in, but it's rare and they don't do much. What does allow minor parties some standing is that our Senate has proportional voting. You don't have to win to get in, you just have to represent a sufficient proportion of the State. You don't get this in the US Federal government. Every election - each House seat, each Senate seat, the Presidency - has exactly one winner. It doesn't leave room for minority parties.
Though I remain a fan of preferential voting too.
It is officially t-minus get-me-the-fuck-out-of-here at work.
Die, Friday, die and be done with it! I want to go play!
I'm waiting for people to arrive and watch Sci-Fi Friday. My anticipation is tinged with the knowledge that it is the last time we'll have new shows of these series for quite a while.
t sobs
I know! ::sigh:: I'm gonna
miss
them
I saw an ad on television for www.automaticshowercleaner.com which hangs from your showerhead and sprays Scrubbing Bubbles at the touch of a button.
So, when I was home all day cleaning, I didn't so much, you know, actually clean.
And now I get an email that my sister and her friend will be here in an hour or so, not tomorrow.
Sty does not begin to describe it.
Crap.
Maybe ita or other science-y types might find this interesting:
Why Do We Think Aliens Are Made of Water?
If it's good enough for us, it's good enough for them.
Discusses why water is such a good basis for life that it's sometimes considered essential for any form of life. Also mentions some possible non-water basises for life, such as liquid ammonia or liquid methane.
Sty does not begin to describe it.
That's a shame, because then maybe it could end as 'stylish'. Or 'styrofoam'. Obviously there are some risks involved.
ita, snail mail received. Ta.
Ghost Whisper, so bad it's fun.
My want-to-get done list for tomorrow is too long. poop.
