Ouch, tommy. I do, however, feel vaguely comforted by someone else hurting himself in weird ways. It makes me feel less alone.
Ibuprofen should help keep down the swelling. Compression would also help if you've got an Ace bandage or something to wrap around the finger. After years of self-destruction, I have about four sizes of Ace bandages, several kinds of ice packs in the freezer and a drawer full of bandages.
