Didn't know you had a thing about war movies, fair enough.
Yeah, I'm pretty helplessly weepy. LotR kicked my ass to the third power and then some, but I couldn't not love them. But the combat part of
The Great Escape,
for instance, almost tarnishes a lovely movie for me. Irritatingly I
love
PoW movies. And TV. I really need to sit down and rewatch my Tenko DVDs. And buy
Bridge Over the River Kwai.
They gave out all the black-people Oscars already, sorry.
::cries like she's just seen a war movie::
JESSE! Hollywood was a pioneer in the civil right movement. How dare you suggest they have a color bias?
I'm not saying they have a bias! I'm saying their work there is done. They've moved on to The Gays now, clearly.
Tenko's out on DVD? Oh, man, now I've got another thing to add to my Netflix queue. That was a great series.
They've moved on to The Gays now, clearly.
More like "The Gays." Actual homosexuality not included.
Hold on, are you saying there are gay people in the entertainment industry?
Irritatingly I love PoW movies.
That is a curious boundary you have there, must be a bit tricky managing it. Enemy at the Gates has interesting stuff going on. The main characters are Russians, so there's the whole Damn, it sucks to get your ass kicked by your old enemy while you freeze and starve to death tacked onto the Our way of life is a Sham, did we always know it was a Sham? thing happening. Plus, people getting shot, and hot skanky surreptitious sleeping bag sex, but that may be a thing ...
msbelle, I hated:
the older couple by the end. Feh. They shouldn't lose their composure (and their brains) that easily. I hope they don't last. I'm just fucking tired of the defeatism and the whining.
Wow, I adored Rachel Weisz in the Mummies. But I'm a sucker that way.
Tenko's out on DVD?
I have the UK Region copies.
