The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Announcement: My hotel has internet access, but not wireless.

Analysis: I am so very very spoiled.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Burrell, sorry to hear about the not not pox. If it is the pox, have you and the husband already had it? I just read a bit where Jason Lee had it, thought he was going to shuffle off the mortal coil, gave it to his son who romped and played merrily through the whole infection.

So if the two of you are safe...well, it's something that should happen eventually, right?

We have an appointment today with our regular doctor to see what he says. I'm worried because Isaac clearly has the same early symptoms that she had.

These days, most kids are vaccinated for the chix pox. Franny was vaccinated at 1 year (it's an icky, owie vaccination), Isaac hasn't been vaccinated. So, you ask, how can Franny have the chix pox if she has been vaccinated? Well, about 30-40% of children still come down with it, but they have very mild symptoms compared to children who haven't been. That's why I am worried about Isaac.

Cody and I have both had it already, so I'm not worried about us although I do know of some people who came down with it twice!

Hi, Buffistas! The cat is driving me nuts!!! She has been non-stop meowing in a whiny way since yesterday morning, and now she's playing with

Excuse me. It's now five minutes after I started this post. She was apparently scratching at a vase I had sitting on top of the microwave. It's now in the garbage. This is why I have all my breakable knicknacks on one shelf in the living room that she can't get to (and I've seen her try, believe me).

I had to give her some food just to stop her from crawling all over the keyboard and shut up her infernal whining. At least I know why she's fat--she's got me trained very well to produce food when she gets obnoxious.

Mostly lurking...

Burrell, I came down with the chicken pox two days after my mom and dad brought my baby brother home from the hospital. He did end up getting them, but got a very mild case, because (I think this is what the doctor said) mom was breastfeeding.

I hope your situation turns out even better.

Sorry about that rather abrupt cross-post.

I hope everything is all right, Burrell! I remember when chicken pox swept through my neighborhood, and just about all the kids came down with it. My sister brought it home from Karen Powers down the street, and then my brother and I got it at the same time. My poor mom was getting tired of giving baking soda baths and applying that pink gunk on our sores.

I hope that both of the children escape the worst of the pox.

information libertarian

I had chicken pox twice - one as a baby of Isaac's age, and once when I was 5 (Nutty had it too then, at 2.) Baby me and Nutty had really mild cases, but 5 year old me was way sick - too sick to scratch or complain. I am pretty sure the average case is mild, though. My brother had it when the neighborhood had it, maybe 4 or 5, and it was no big deal.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck with the possible-pox, Burrell.

I just had awesome brunch with my old boss. Yay. It's a gorgeous day here, if cold -- it seems like the perfect weather to go for a drive. Not that I have access to a car.
