Remember this is a state that came very close to having a democratic governer even though the guy elected governer was the one in charge of the election.
They also voted for a dead guy for senator instead of John Ashcroft.

And wasn't it Missouri that elected a dead guy over John Ashcroft?
Somebody out thataway's got some sense, and Gud can't cast that many votes himself, can he??
ETA: Ha!! Dead guy x-post!!!
Yay nerve block!
The reason they want to move? So they can own property.
My friend's husband found a new job that is in a place with a lower cost of living (and they lived there before and liked it), better schools, a shorter commute, people he's worked with before and likes, and even though she has to leave her job here, they come out financially ahead with this move. It's a no-brainer.
Hmph.
Not true. The Fourteenth Amendment applies the Bill of Rights, including the First Amendment, to the states.
Smarty lawyer is, of course, correct -- I was just thinking of the original part of the Constitution and not the amendments. And I agree that it's way unlikely that this will get anywhere even if it did get to the court, but, yeah, nutso state leg.
(But, sadly, I know people who would just love to ditch the 14th.)
Sweet. Insent, Tom.
Today's fortune cookie:
Romance awaits you.
Even my fortune cookie knows that I have a date with Rodney McKay tonight.
Sad story. A commuter train ticket agent was killed today (her 55th birthday) when an SUV slammed into the station at high speed. The driver ran away on foot; police are tracking him down.

I saw that on the news this morning. The SUV was driving in the parking lot when it smashed though a brick wall and ended up inside the station.
How fast does an SUV need to go to smash through a brick wall?
What's with the runaway SUV's today? Some idiot plowed into 5 people in the middle of the UNC campus today, and I can't even figure out how you'd get a car onto that part of the campus.
... I can't even figure out how you'd get a car onto that part of the campus.
That's the whole point of a SUV, to go places where a car can't.
