Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I read the first of the Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs yesterday and really enjoyed it. I ordered books 2 and 3 today because the bookstore was out of them, but I was wondering what people thought of her other series? Any particular ones better than others?

The status is NOT quo.

I love all of Briggs' series, but her Mercy Thompson books are my favorite. You might also like Ilona Andrews' books, sj, if you haven't read them.

She's got a couple other books (Alpha and Omega?) in the same "universe" as the Mercy books, sj, which I also enjoyed, though not as much. I haven't read her other books, though.

Her magic series is pretty good too, but more tradiional fantasy fare. The Alpha and Omega series is fun, but I agree that nothing beats Mercy.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

I would also recommend Dragon Bones and Dragon Blood, which are "traditional" fantasy. I think they have a fresh take on the genre, and like them a lot.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I really, really enjoy the Mercy books. The alpha and Omega are interesting and fun, but I just like the Mercy character so much.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I saw that shirt at Comic-Con! At that booth, I guess it was.

Nifty! I've been waiting to post it since he announced the design ages ago - finally actual shirts are available - it immediately made me think of buffistas.
