Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I too have the book.

In the Country Club Plaza B&N, there were no copies in the "Cultural Studies" section, but there were four copies on the cart next to the "New In Paperback" table up front, waiting to be placed.

In the Independence B&N, there were no copies on display yet, but after I inquired, the clerk brought me one from the stockroom. I said "Thank you," wandered around the store a bit longer, then left it on the "New In Paperback" table on my way out.

In the Zona Rosa B&N (far north end of Kansas City), I only found one copy, in the "Cultural Studies" section. Since that is my "local" B&N, that's the one I bought.

The only thing I saw that looked like competition was one copy of The Goth Bible on the shelf in Independence.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Cultural Studies, huh. I would have guessed etiquette books in Self-Help.

Hmm, intriguing how few copies each B&N store has.

Our store - not surprisingly - ordered far more. 89 to be exact. We sold 84 of them.

The event coordinator was going to contact Corporate to tell them how successful the event, and presumably sales, was. With any luck that'll translate into more copies in each store.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm waiting until the signing to get my copy for that very reason.

And it's always a nice way to thank whatever store chose to host us.

I am STILL waiting on my "same-day" delivery from BN.com (placed yesterday morning).

BTW, it turns out that the few unsold copies at B&N weren't actually readily available to the public. It turns out we had people looking for copies. We actually sold out.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I went looking for Jilli's book at the downtown B&N - polarbearin' Borders insists it won't be out until July 1 ... at which time they'll probably label it out of print - and there it was - on a front table. I got the last copy.

That's interesting. I'm going to let my publicity munchkin and editor know about that. That's what they're for, right? That, and for me to send photos to of the guy who had me sign his chest last night.

Oh, I'm sorry I missed that. I think.
