Oh, Pacey! You blind idiot. Can't you see she doesn't love you?

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

So, in thinking about genre, have any of you read Chabon's Maps and Legends? Thoughts?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

PC, that is awesome. In a pole-axing way. So long as it isn't the match that sets the fanfic house on fire, I'm good. (And, frankly, since the HP novels are all out now, and HP fanfic didn't make anything go boom in a big way, I'm much less nervous about this than I once was.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

And on top of the weird metaphor fest, "Spikenard"? The protagonist's name is "Spikenard"? Really?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

And is it pronounced "Spike-nard"? "Spick-en-ard"? "Spiken-ard"?

Spickeloost, anyone?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I don't think anyone here is feeling much in the way of "oost".

I like the idea that the other characters might be called Angelnard, and Drusillanard, and Buffynard. It could be a whole new cunning form of C&D-proof fanfic. Really, really, REALLY bad C&D-proof fanfic.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Spikenard is an herb. Well, a plant; I'm pretty sure it's a herb, although I do not know what properties I has. I think it's just smelley; it's not like an interesting poison or anything.

Now that my internet is (knock wood) working better, I gotta read that thing.

Oh. Oh, I read it. It's the worst "Song of Solomon" on mushrooms mated with the sad, raped memory of Walt Whitman ever. Gah.

And I gotta wonder what kind of breasts this guy saw to use cheese as a metaphoric descriptor. Arrrrrooo?
