Here's what I remember -- Gemma's laudanum-addicted father = oh noes!, new teacher = Teh EVIL, dead!Pippa = not-so-good, cute!boy = not-quite-right-for-Gemma, and IIRC, Gemma now has The Realms *within* her -- is that right?

Yeah. My one contribution to that slapfight was pointing out to him that, for a professional communicator, he was having to do an awful lot of clarification and restatement, and that might kinda sorta be a problem.
