I imagine there are a lot more words and details, but that's TERRIFIC!
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Will someone please transcribe the EW blurb?
I knew I should have brought it with me! I was going to transcribe it last night, but A) I was tired and B) I figured it would be online soon anyway.
Will someone please transcribe the EW blurb?
Sorry! I didn't bring it with me. My best friend did just email me with this about it though:
have you seen the new Entertainment Weekly? (Or are you avoiding it like the plague because of the Harry Potter spoilage?) Anyway, there's a little thing in there about the buffista founder's new book. Awesome!
From Entertainment Weekly:
Ultimate Fandom Slices of "Slayer" Cake
In the Buffy-verse, there are fans, and then there's Allyson Beatrice. In Will the Vampire People Please Leave the Lobby? (paperback), the message-board maven recounts how she found a new family in the show's devoted online community - and even a new home for series crator Joss Whedon's cat. Here are some of her lessons in cult fandom. -Mandi Bierly
- THE BIG CHEESE MAY NEVER REMEMBER YOUR NAME.
- BUT THE LITTLE GUYS YOU PISS OFF WILL.
- IN THE END, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FANS.
That is so awesome.
Allyson, I for one would like to thank you for your wonderful body of work. I have to say, that's now that there's a book about our on-line family, my family and RL friends finally realize that I'm not making up 100+ friends.
I wonder how Tim feels about being called a "little guy."
BUT THE LITTLE GUYS YOU PISS OFF WILL.
It's not clear to me if the writer is talking about Tim or paperdol here.
It's Tim, lisah. She's referring to the fact that Tim didn't talk to Allyson until she pissed him off.
It's a weird moniker to give him, considering she says in that essay that writers are the rock stars of fandom. Not the little guys.
Thank you, Toddson!! I've been waiting for someone to post that!
Yay, paperdol!!!! Good write-up
Glad to; after all, I had a copy in my hot little hands, so why not share?
