People are saying that UPS has been fictitiously claiming that nobody was home for packages that it did not even attempt to deliver.
I've had so many experiences of this!
I like my UPS guy a lot, and he's very indulgent, considering Bartleby accidentally chased and scared the pants off him a couple of years ago. But I get the sense that their quotas are so strict that they have to make stuff up just to get by.
Fortunately, I have the perfect counter...a sign on my door directs all deliveries to the liquor store above which I live. Just try to claim that you attempted delivery during normal business hours and neither the self-employed resident nor the landlord on the first floor answered. It's brilliant.
Gee, I can't think of a book that fits this description: [link]

This happens to me all the time, both with UPS and USPS. Wankers.

Heeeeeeee. I need to start reading that regularly. Is there an RSS feed I can put on my flist?
Dude, yeah! That's how I read it: [link]

Speaking of...I just popped in Book the Second from the Lemony Snicket "Unfortunate Events" series. Don't think I can hang with the oppressed orphans story line...even with Tim Curry's reading. Yesh.
I got both HP7 (gift from DH) and
Vampire People
(gift from self) this weekend. Guess which one I'm reading more avidly?
I did get some amusement out of starting HP7 while hanging out with DH and periodically exclaiming "OH NOES!!! That's not who I wanted to die!!!" Until he threatened to kill me.
That doesn't work as well with
Vampire People,
but my exclamations over Allyson's book are more genuine and heartfelt. It's perfect.
Don't tell me who dies in Vampire People! I want to be surprised.
The WB kills The Bronze! Page 88!
