I'm about 400 pages in, and I'm marginally annoyed at the heavy-handed Nazi metaphor. But the rest of it I'm loving so far, although I want it to not end.
I'm going to stop reading for the night, and I expect I'll finish it tomorrow.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I was talking to JZ's mom (the bookstore manager) the other day and I said, "This is the last time you'll see a publishing event like this."
And she poo-poohed it, but I'm certain. This kind of communal literary event happens maybe once a century when a Dickens captures the public mood so that dock workers yell up to the ship heaving into the docks, "Does Little Nell die?"
The last time this happened in music was when Sergeant Pepper was released. (And I say that thinking it's a lot less than their best album, but The Event of it was unprecedented and still unsurpassed. It defined that summer.)
JZ used her credit card to buy a copy and I made her a martini and she's in the bedroom reading right now.
Btw, is there an LJ devoted to chapter by chapter reading of HP7?
Or rather, I'm sure there is - where is it?
It's a hell of a long book, though! Just finished, myself. Dr. Who may have to wait until tomorrow. Along with all the other things I was supposed to do today.

I had a really great idea about stuff that was going on in the book just before I fell asleep. but then my dreams go so weird that I can't even rememer what my idea was about
A non-spoilery comment. IMO a key plot point depends on handwavium.
Good god. My friend picked up the book on Saturday morning. Her mother, on the other hand, picked it up on Friday night and decided the thing to do was text her the ending first thing Saturday morning.
OMG. Bad mom, no biscuit!
