I'll be fine. I'll be your bounty, Jubal Early. And I'll just fade away.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Taking a break after the first 100 pages. She is good at pacing, isn't she? Such an easy read!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I just picked up my copy at Barnes and Noble. I still have to finish reading 6 first.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I'm doing an unspoiled chapter-by-chapter over at my livejournal. It should be fun, documenting how WRONG some of my guesses are.

Goodness. 500 pages in, and there's still a good-sized book left to read!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm on page 578. I want to know what happens, but I also don't want it to end!

Heh. I'm only on 284. Today has been a day of leisurely reading, snoozing, chores, and shopping. I'm trying to stretch it out. The reading, not the chores.

Now this is starting to remind of dessert. It was always a contest to see who could make it last the longest.

...actually, what i found was that eating as slow as my little sister was too slow for me.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I'm about 400 pages in, and I'm marginally annoyed at the heavy-handed Nazi metaphor. But the rest of it I'm loving so far, although I want it to not end.

I'm going to stop reading for the night, and I expect I'll finish it tomorrow.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I was talking to JZ's mom (the bookstore manager) the other day and I said, "This is the last time you'll see a publishing event like this."

And she poo-poohed it, but I'm certain. This kind of communal literary event happens maybe once a century when a Dickens captures the public mood so that dock workers yell up to the ship heaving into the docks, "Does Little Nell die?"

The last time this happened in music was when Sergeant Pepper was released. (And I say that thinking it's a lot less than their best album, but The Event of it was unprecedented and still unsurpassed. It defined that summer.)

JZ used her credit card to buy a copy and I made her a martini and she's in the bedroom reading right now.
