Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ha! Classic. She said with no irony whatsoever.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

Without knowing very much about that(and mixing media) kind of reminds me of reading netfix reviews like "Mean Streets is okay, but it's no Sopranos!1" But there couldn't be a Sopranos without Mean Streets--it's at least borderline unpossible.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

From way back:

Any worries I had for Father Material were unfounded, it's really good

I finally read it, and I agree! I wanted more of the friend group ESPECIALLY PRIYA, GIVE PRIYA HER OWN BOOK GODDAMNIT but the core relationship/life stuff was all good, and I like where it left things.

Yes to your whitefont! I was SO RELIEVED that Oliver’s straight friends showed up after they seemed to be entirely missing from Husband Material, and integrating the two groups AND having a big climactic fight amongst them all that didn’t break down by who was originally friends with whom was GREAT but a Priya book would be wonderful.

I am still waiting for the trans artist from Luc’s bachelor party to get a book, too. I’m not sure where I got the idea that that was definitely in the works but it is solidly in my head

I think his book is planned for next year. (And I want to say that character's name is Tyler? But I might be totally making that up.)

Well, Charlaine Harris's Gunnie Rose series has irritated me a great deal. Six books of irritating me. I suppose I will read the next one if there is one, but I am not looking forward to it.

The status is NOT quo.

I gave up and didn't bother when the most recent one came out, -t. I liked the first couple well enough but have officially lost interest.

I applaud your choice. I had it sitting in a suspended hold from the library for quite a long time and finally decided to read it and I wouldn't go so far as to say I wish I had that time back but I didn't enjoy it
