Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

the next book in the Paladins series should be out later in the year

Sweet! I just recently finished Thornhedge and I didn't like it quite as much as I expected to. Can't pinpoint why either - I like the premise and the characters but the actual story I'm just not that into, I guess. So I was already wishfully hoping for more Paladins. I did like House with Good Bones rather a lot.

I've been reading The Doctrine of Labyrinths series which I guess Katharine Addison wrote under a different name and has been republished or something. It was a little slow to really grab me but now I'm pretty much obsessed with it (on the fourth book and I don't think there are any more, woes)

Although what I really want is the next Swordheart. Someday, I hope.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The Paladin books are the only Kingfisher books I’ve had trouble getting into. I think I’ll try the first one again but in audio form this time.

The Doctrine of Labyrinths

Melusine, which I think is the first book in the series, is on sale for Kindle right now ($1.99). [link]

Do the Paladin books and the Clockwork Boys books take place in the same universe?

Yes. I think there might be characters that appear in both? Could be wrong about that

Okay, thanks -t. They feel like the same universe. I didn’t have trouble with the clockwork books but tge first Paladin book I couldn’t get through the first time.

I believe so. There are references to the Clockworks that stopped working a while back, and some of the cities have the same name.
