Yes, I'm expecting 4 more. I was thinking Marcus next but then I got to the end and now I don't have any idea what is going to happen but I really want to. This is one of the things I was reflecting on that made me appreciate the series: how each book focuses on a paladin and a love interest but the little things we learn about the other paladins (and other supporting characters) set up their own books so well and when, say, Stephen pops up as a supporting character in this one it doesn't feel like a cameo appearance, they are all more integrated, I guess, even though most of the book is
just Galen and Piper and Earstripe doing a dungeon crawl. And if that's not what a dungeon crawl is, I probably don't want to be corrected
I see the distinction you are drawing there, bennett, and it makes sense. I was thinking it wasn't a cliffhanger because it's not really anyone in peril (or is it? But that's not the primary impact even if it is)
I did like reading about characters from earlier books - the paladins plus Jorge and Brindle and his ox and Zane. I didn't remember Piper from the previous book, but I guess he was there (obviously I need to re-read).
I went back and looked for him in Paladin's Grace to confirm, I only vaguely remembered that there was a character who did his job. Brindle was even in Clocktaur Wars and The Wonder Engine, right? Or Swordheart? Or all of them, Brindle may be the Stan Lee of the World of the White Rat. In my head, for some reason, Brindle and Zane make for nice continuity but Jorge popping up over and over is leading to something down the road. Maybe because we have had books in which Brindle and Zane played larger roles already but nsm Jorge
Jorge mostly hangs around providing respectability to the paladins (of the Saint of Steel) and looking gorgeous. Also vouching for the non-presence of demons.
I think Jorge was in Swordheart, too. I almost want him to have his own book, or be someone's love interest.
I'm easy. I would love to have them all have individual books or to have a group book that goes into whatever happened that caused the series' not-quite cliffhanger.
I think Jorge turned up in Swordheart when Halla and the guy in the sword stopped at an inn and there were some paladins of the Dreaming God and one was injured; she treated his wound and he (all of them?) went with them and helped them with the priests of the Hanged Mother. I think ... obviously ANOTHER re-read is needed.
That's what I remember, Toddson, also that Jorge was flirting pretty heavily with Halla at some point.
I'm just so tickled that she's taken this idea of playing around with the Romance with Brooding Paladin idea that she came up with while playing video games and turned it into a full on series (and whatever you want to call Clocktaur Wars and The Wonder Engine) and it's so good!
I loved it and I’m going back to reread the others. I’m glad it looks like we’ll get more in this world. I hope they have more Zale.
I love all these books! I was thrilled when the latest popped up on my Kindle.
