anyone have opinions on whether it would be worthwhile to just read the new book cold, or if I should pick back up at book 6, or not bother?
I would not try to jump in without catching up on the intervening books - the cast and plot are BONKERS out of control at this point and Go Tell The Bees won't make any sense. (It might not anyway, DG is almost at Anne Rice levels of I Don't Want To Edit And You Can't Make Me.)
Yeah I think I’ll have to go back and reread the last couple books because I have very little memory of what happened. He was dead and then he wasn’t? She was remarried? Revolutionary war? These people are now like 70 years old?

All that plus like every member of Lord John Grey's extended family now has their own storyline for some reason? And all the Brianna/Roger time travel shenanigans...

Hahahaha, I'm in a mood where this makes me want to read it more! I did read at least one random Lord John short story that was in an anthology, I think more likely a couple, but I don't recall having any kind of reaction to them so not much guidance available there
I have to admit I gave up on the Outlander books after book ... three? maybe? ... they were too long and were getting too confusing for me. I did like the first ones; I've never seen the series, although I've read some things about it (and greatly admired the actor playing Jamie).

Thank you! Also, yay on the featured Paladin, I have been hoping he'd get his own story
