Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I remember really disliking the writing style in The Hot Zone.

I thought The Coming Plague by Laurie Garrett was much more clearly presented and engaging to read.

And it appears that it is currently free in Kindle format: [link]

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Yes! And now I need Low Def.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

I did too! It was exactly my jam.

Volans, me too and now I’m out of new Bardugo to read except for the Grishaverse companion book about the lives of the saints. I can’t wait for the sequel to King of Scars to come out next year.

Because books.

It took me a minute to get into Ninth House, but once I did, I tore through it.

I think the only ones I won't reread are the original trilogy. But Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom and King of Scars? Yes, please.

The original trilogy is my least favorite, but I still really enjoyed them, and I’m looking forward to the Netflix series.

Because books.

I loved them while reading them, too, but I just don't feel a need to go back. And yes, I am super excited about the Netflix series.

I don’t get all the fandom swooning over The Darkling. He’s a pretty irredeemable villain imo whereas Kaz is not.

I read 9th house but wasn’t a huge fan. I may need to reread it some time in the future and see if my opinion changes? Maybe if there’s a sequel. I also wasn’t super a fan of Gideon of the Ninth—I liked parts of it but overall it was too weird for me even though it seemed like it ought to be up my alley.
