Finished Starless Sea and it felt.... bloated. It's no Night Circus for sure.
I loved 10k Doors of January, I'm struggling with Starless Sea and I think it's because I'm trying to novel and read, and I really liked a book that people are hating (9th House) -- weird.
I didn't love Ninth House for 2/3rds of the book, but the last 1/3rd got me and I really enjoyed it. And then the same thing happend with Less which I actively disliked until the final 15% and its mediocrity was broken by a delightul ending.

Yep, my feelings too. Enjoyed it, but didn't love it.
Reminder if you're looking for any books cheap and want me to check the library book, just give me a shout at my profile addy. I just snagged a bunch of library edition graphic novels for myself.
OK, 10k doors of January is excellent.
Oh gosh, Less. I have so many thoughts about that book.
Starless Sea is -- I'm having a hard time finding a handhold. I suspect that's because I had a book in my brain, and am grading fifty thousand student stories.
I got the impression that 9th House is something of a jump for fans -- but it was right in my wheelhouse, most of the time.
I am doing the approach-avoid thing with The Water Dancer because I still need to get grading done and I suspect I won't be able to get up once I've sat down with this one. T enjoyed it a lot.

No, that was exactly my experience as well.
Okay, so the night circus was great. 10k days of January seems to the the next one being recommended, fair?
Ok, also, I'm finally catching up with NK Jemisen. Read and Loved the inheritance trilogy (ebook omnibus edition) but had a really hard time getting into Dreamblood duology. Should I keep trying or move on to her other big trilogy, name currently slipping my brain?
