Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
I have to read 23 more books by the end of the year to reach my reading goal.
Yeah, I read too many 500+ page novels and kind of blew my goal. No real regrets!
My embarrassment is that I somehow surpassed my goal and read 237 books this year. I kept saying I could tell how depressed I was by how many books I read! I am now trying to read some more challenging material.

I loved 10k Doors of January, I'm struggling with Starless Sea and I think it's because I'm trying to novel and read, and I really liked a book that people are hating (9th House) -- weird.
I miss you all a lot.
People are hating 9th House? I haven't started it yet, but I am looking forward to it.
I finished Starless Sea. I liked it, but I didn't love it. Too many threads for me to follow, I think. Ten Thousand Doors of January is still definitely my favorite.
Similarly, I liked Gideon the Ninth but didn't love it (definitely didn't hate it — I'd heard nothing but raves before I read it). I like my books with a little more exposition.
The Starless Sea doesn't trump The Night Circus for me, but then the only way The Night Circus could have been more aimed at me was if it had vampires.
I'm reading Night Circus right now. So far I'm disappointed with the lack of Circus.
I just started 10k Doors. So far I'm liking it a lot.
Have started 10k doors. Reading it and Starless Sea close together is making me very thinky, so that's nice
ETA and apparently the new Expanse novella was released early? I don't think my brain can handle switching gears to that right now...
