I had never read them, but the middle grade squirrel girl novels by the same writers are super awesome.

If you've been missing the Buffyverse (and/or just want a fun, quick -- if not slightly predictable -- read), Kiersten White's Slayer is pretty good. IIRC, it's the first in a series, and I liked Slayer enough that I'll read the rest.
