Just finished The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal, and I enjoyed it immensely. It's basically the novel I wanted to write (or read) after I heard about the Mercury 13.
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Yes! I read that recently, too. So good!
I thought of Naveen Andrews and I bet he would be very pretty in eyeliner and rhinestones so I think he's my choice.
I have zero familiarity with the book in question, but I just felt the need to add my vote: Yes to Naveen Andrews in eyeliner & rhinestones!
re Naveen Andrews: remember Robert!
I was ready to cry when Oort found the costumes they had grown. Robert!
I am reading The Calculating Stars right now and it is indeed FG.
I'm reading Girl Waits with Gun, which I think I first heard about here. It's excellent.
I got that but it wasn't as good as I expected ... maybe I need to go back to it and try again. There is a sequel out, if you're interested.
I think that there are a couple of sequels out now.
ETA: the 4th book is out now or very shortly.
I am halfway through Space Opera now, and I'm enjoying it immensely.
My mom saw Gretchen Carlson speak on PBS the other day and sent me her latest book, Be Fierce, because I am also a fierce woman (she says). My mom has never watched Fox News and really isn't up to date on much of anything. I'm womanfully not telling her exactly what I think of Gretchen Carlson or the mere existence of the book, of which I don't have the spoons to read.
