Loooooove Dora's book but you may notice that from around
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Y'all have got to read this, about a book scamming its way onto the NYT bestseller list:
Oh, that's gold. Wow. (I also didn't know you could do the bulk-buying thing.)
Whoa, that is fascinating, Dana!
The NYT has taken it off the list now.
I haven't read the Toby Daye books yet, but the fact that there are so many make me happy. I love starting a series with a bunch of books ahead of me.
You really should. I found the first book a bit hard to take because there was a lot of world building involved (I read it again after I'd finished the series so far and enjoyed it much more), but stick with it. It gets really good especially in a "create your own family" kind of way.
When I read Rosemary & Rue (that's the first one, right?) I got the sample first and then bought the book and kept reading only the sample was not the first chapter so I was SO CONFUSED because I just went on from where the sample ended and it sure seemed like I was missing a lot of information and there were all these references to things happening that I had no idea about... Eventually figured it out. So, um, don't do that, I guess?
Yes, that's the first one. And Seanan (?) admitted somewhere that her first version of the book was not good. Reading it now, I love it. But it wasn't until May showed up that I fell in love with the series. I keep re-reading bits and pieces that I love (though I'm pretty sure I just re-read the entire of Red Rose Chain) apart from the last few chapters. I do find it amusing for some reason that the running gag is that Toby gets drenched with blood in almost every book; usually her own.
Oh, I love that. It's just so right.
I haven't read the Toby Daye books yet, either, and I'm behind on the Incrypdid series. Predictably, my favorite character(s) are the Aeslin mice.
