Whoa! I... I think I'm having a thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a thought. Now I'm having a plan. Now I'm having a wiggins.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

(packs bags for trip to Holland)

In strange shelving stories, when I was a kid I found "Animal Farm" had originally been classified as a children's book ... someone explained to the librarians and it was reclassified as a book for grown-ups, but the original stamp was visible.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Meanwhile - an important fact I have learned from Stiletto : the Dutch put chocolate sprinkles on their toast.

For breakfast most mornings, apparently.

Because books.

Nancy Pearl's summer reading list, via NPR: [link]

I love the sound of the first book, a vintage Hollywood mystery with Edith Head (!) as one of the detectives.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ooh!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

I read that for the Agatha awards(it was nominated for Best First mystery- alas, it didn't win.) and enjoyed it greatly.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This is cool!

Crowd-sourced "literature map" that lets you see "readers who like this author also like" in a very nice graphical format.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Very cool - investigating a new author in another tab even as we speak!

Our wings are not tired.

The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter by Theodora Goss is awesome

As a reward to myself this morning, after cleaning up several times after a sick dog, I added this one to my Nook. I have to laugh at myself since I already have many years worth of unread volumes in paper and electronic form here. But I deserved a reward and the reviews from my friends are making it irresistible.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

People, The Strenge Case of the Alchemist's Daughter by Theodora Goss is awesome, and you should all go read it. Jilli, I think it's especially up your alley.

I have it from the library. As soon as I finish the two books ahead of it, I'm reading it.

Aha, it's available on Audible and I have a credit. That'll do.
