Plus she writes the kind of hard science fiction space opera they prefer.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

They apparently endorsed Fury Road, so who knows?
Actually, they didn't.
Sorry about the link: File770 went down last night for a while.
It's a long story, but the RPs (and SPa to a lesser extent) are basically the Trump supporters of SFF. They hate women and minorities and inclusive fiction. They nominated only politically reactionary work, or they picked stuff they knew was popular but didn't look "SJW". Hence the Bujold and some other choices.
That way if Bujold wins they get to claim it was their influence, even if she would have won anyway because she's hugely popular.
Which is why I'm so happy the Jemisin made the ballot--so many people loved it, it overwhelmed the RP slate.
Anyway, I feel really bad for all the writers and fans and artists who got knocked off the ballot by the jackass reactionary trolls.

Bujold actually asked to be taken off their slate, and they refused.
waves and disappears again
Actually, they didn't.
From what I've seen, the Sad Puppy slate did, which I find equally confusing.

That's nice to hear, at least.
Another book rec for book lovers: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. It's the story of a cranky, yet delightful, bookseller on a little island off the coast of Massachusetts who finds a baby girl abandoned in his shop and traces his life. Sweet, heartwarming, and moments of sadness, and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

The Sad Puppies didn't do a slate; they did an actual recommendation list culled from comments where anyone could recommend things.
This year confirms that it's really the Rabid Puppies who are fucking things up. Nothing made the ballot from the SP recs unless it was also on the RP slate (except for a couple things that clearly would have made it anyway based on their presence on other awards ballots).
For the record, I saw a lot of lobbying for Tingle in decidedly anti-Puppy spaces. Like, there have been a LOT of Tingle Hugo Threads on FFA. Once my Media Blackout is over, I'll have to check the reactions.

I recently read a novella by Mary Robinette Kowal, The Escapement of Blackledge which was written as kind of an Aprils Fool joke. It's entertaining, not very long, and contains some very amusing language.
