Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Hey. New board.

I recently read on Seanan's blog something about her finishing the SECOND book from Antimony's point of view. So that seems to imply the first book from her point of view must be coming soon.

Hey. New board.

Also, really slams in the point about how ridiculously prolific a writer she is. Back before she was published and I was lucky enough to beta one of her books (still not published dammit), she sent me a chapter a day, finishing the whole novel in 16 days I think. It was nuts.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I just got a notice from the library that her Every Heart a Doorway is waiting for me. Yay!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

The first Antimony book will be out next March. I think it's called Magic For Nothing.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Her website has a bunch of shorts for free set in the InCryptid universe, including from Antimony's POV. I think that the first short from her POV is for pay, because it was in an anthology, but there are a lot of free ones that detail the backstory of the Price's -- I really recommend reading them if you like the Inc books! There's most of an evening's worth of reading there.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The first Antimony book will be out next March. I think it's called Magic For Nothing.

And the second is Tricks for Free.

And then we get two Sarah books, and THEN I believe we get Alice in the underworld looking for Thomas. I forget the title but it's good.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

and two from the brother (whose name is evading me at the moment)

Alex.

And the second is Tricks for Free

Oh we are in such Dire Straits.

And then we get two Sarah books

Not sure how I feel about this. My biggest problem with the second book was that when they went to her POV, Sarah was too human in her thoughts. I know Sarah is an anomaly like her adoptive mother, but I really didn't get that I was reading the thoughts of a very different species than ours.

THEN I believe we get Alice in the underworld looking for Thomas

This, however, should be kickass.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I'm not exactly an unbiased source (I beta-read much of this), but The Invisible Library is a book that I think many Buffistas will appreciate.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Oooh, that looks interesting, Anne!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hugo nominees were announced. With a quick skim, the only idiocy that looks like it's been nominated is one of V-- D--'s blog posts.
