Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Yeah, after a while I had to stop reading Shadow Unit, although I did enjoy the premise. But WS (the FFA folks call him Wool Sweaterly) is so toxic, and so nasty to a number of friends of mine, and is pals with VoxDay (!) and the Gamergators, so I had to stop reading anything that benefited him.

Which, you know, doesn't mean anyone else has to.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

ION, did everyone know there's a new Vorkosigan book?? I didn't until a friend told me, and my copy has just come in at the library! It is going to be a good weekend.

information libertarian

Yeah, That Guy went to the same elite private New England prep school as I did, and was part of a kerfuffle about privilege in which he claimed he was not privileged despite this, and, having knowledge of exactly how privilege works at said prep school, posted about it, and That Guy found my livejournal post and commented about it. Even though, when I typed his name, I replaced certain vowels with *. Since I don't know him from Adam, this suggested to me that he ... routinely googles various versions of his name with asterisks in the place of the vowels? I was fairly nonplussed.

(Ha, I found the post. [link] )

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Oh, I wondered if he was the same guy who insists that class the only driver of privilege/status and race has nothing to do with it.

I raise his status to uber-MEGA egotistical pretentious racist shitlord.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Jesse, are you referring to "Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen"? YES! I got it, read it, enjoyed it ... not my favorite of the series, but worth reading.

Yes, that's the one. Good times.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Jesse, I've got the new Bujold on my TBR bookcase.(along with the new Jim Hines, the new Diane Duane and the new Seanan McGuire) I still have a ton of Agatha nominees to read, and those are library books, so it'll be a while before I get to my TBR bookcase.

Where is the lie.

(Edit: Jeeesus Christ, WS is still mentioning certain people by name on his blog.)

HOW HAS HE NOTHING BETTER TO DO?! What a turd.

And to actually post about a book I'm looking forward to reading:

Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen: [link]

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

ION, did everyone know there's a new Vorkosigan book??

I meant to burble about that but I guess I didn't. I loved it - always enjoy Cordelia (although this book made me super jealous of her) and seeing Miles from outside his own head is always fun. Also, it made me want to drop everything and read the whole Vorkosigan saga in chronological order. But I have to catch up on The Expanse, so that will have to wait.

Aw, that whole "Frequently bought together" at shrift's link makes me happy.
