Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

not your mom's socks.

Add me to the Uprooted / anything Naomi Novik writes bench.

If I haven't mentioned it here, The Fifth Season is really REALLY good.

Do any of you read Leigh Bardugo? I love the Grishaverse in general. But Six of Crows is excellent.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Uprooted is on the TBR list. Meanwhile, I'm muchly enjoying "The Raven Boys".

Because books.

The Raven Boys series is fantastic, Anne. I absolutely love it. And if you haven't read it, I highly recommend The Scorpio Races. I think you'd love it.

I've been meaning to read Leigh Bardugo, too. Is Six of Crows part of the Grishaverse?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I liked Scorpio Races but didn't love it. I love Raven Boys because of the characters, but I find her writing a little...sideways, I guess? Not in a good way, at least for me.

I had a hard time getting into Scorpio Races because I think my idea of the mythical background was somewhat different from where the author went, but I did like it. I just ended up thinking of it more as just a horse book, kinda.

Did I talk about Zeroboxer here? I really enjoyed it, wished ita was around to get her take on how accurate the weightless fight scenes read (yes, I realize we don't actually have zero gravity boxing, but still, they felt very real somehow), went back to see who the author was and was delighted to discover it was an Asian woman with martial arts black & brown belts.
