Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Because books.

Except people who live across the continent are sad now.

Of course, people across the continent also have way less time to read than they'd like lately ...

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Awww Amy.... maybe we could come up with some online component too?

So Petra Mayer on Pop Culture Happy Hour just gave a GLOWING review for Naomi Novik's new book, Uprooted. Shall have to badger the library to get a copy...

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Everyone I know who's read it has been raving.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I meant once a month. Shit. My brain is stupid.

Hey. New board.

Neal Stephenson wrote a new book and I somehow didn't know!

I will see the world again in a couple of days.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's really good. I think there's a sense of freedom from not writing in the Temeraire universe.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Neal Stephenson wrote a new book

I saw that, and I don't know if it's just the depression talking, but my first reaction was "Ugh, I am NOT up for all that heavy lifting."

I'm thrilled that she's enjoying such success as a published author, but I selfishly miss her fanfic from fandoms I'm part of. She was one of the best SGA writers ever, and she actually managed to get me to read Wincest.

She wrote it unbelievably convincingly. I'd like to try something of hers, but Temeraire doesn't sound like it's for me -- I'm not a huge fantasy reader.
