Speaking of which, here's [link] a good essay on the relatively recent rise of both the "adult" and "young adult" categories.
I'm afraid her book sounds like the sort of book I'll go a long way to avoid. 256 pages inside the mind of an unlikable woman doing stupid things. I can hardly wait.
If I'm being totally honest, me too. But friends.
1955 Sports Illustrated: William Faulkner writes of the build-up to the Kentucky Derby.
Thanks, Sumi! I went and shared that with Ms. Hillenbrand.
I ordered the last Skulduggery Pleasant book! Sad it's the last book. (And I may not be able to bring myself to read it right away, because this is a shitty, lousy summer, and I just don't think the book is going to be a lighthearted romp, and I don't think I can take it. Maybe when it gets delivered I'll just put the package straight in the freezer.)
I completely understand. I have a feeling mine will be spending some time in the freezer, as well. Such a mixture of dread and wanting to know what happens!
Oh, it's over? Perhaps now is the time to finally read them all. After I stop time and read everything else I want to read.
I've only ever read the first book. You all are making me dread the rest of it.
I'm trying to think if any character's death could gut me the way
Ghastly's
did, and I don't think so. Not even Skulduggery or Valkyrie (yeah, it would be sad and shitty, but I sort of expect it).
And, for the record, I'm STILL not over Tanith getting a Remnant.
I've only ever read the first book. You all are making me dread the rest of it.
No, they're pretty fantastic. Shit doesn't start to get really real until maybe book 5? Or 6? I mean, major stuff happens, but the impact doesn't really kick in until book 5 or 6. And it's still good, and funny as hell in places.
