I ordered the last Skulduggery Pleasant book! Sad it's the last book. (And I may not be able to bring myself to read it right away, because this is a shitty, lousy summer, and I just don't think the book is going to be a lighthearted romp, and I don't think I can take it. Maybe when it gets delivered I'll just put the package straight in the freezer.)
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
I completely understand. I have a feeling mine will be spending some time in the freezer, as well. Such a mixture of dread and wanting to know what happens!
Oh, it's over? Perhaps now is the time to finally read them all. After I stop time and read everything else I want to read.
I've only ever read the first book. You all are making me dread the rest of it.
I'm trying to think if any character's death could gut me the way Ghastly's did, and I don't think so. Not even Skulduggery or Valkyrie (yeah, it would be sad and shitty, but I sort of expect it).
And, for the record, I'm STILL not over Tanith getting a Remnant.
I've only ever read the first book. You all are making me dread the rest of it.
No, they're pretty fantastic. Shit doesn't start to get really real until maybe book 5? Or 6? I mean, major stuff happens, but the impact doesn't really kick in until book 5 or 6. And it's still good, and funny as hell in places.
It's just that when bad stuff happens to characters you like, it packs a serious punch. And that happens. Not constantly, or even frequently, but the emotional wallop leaves a mark, as it were.
Highly recommended!
The not-published-here thing has kept me from getting past number 3. I just don't like reading real books these days and getting UK ebooks seems like much trouble.

I am P-C in this. Currently reading Bring Up The Bodies.
I just got the first Harry Dresden book from the library, so I imagine I'll be down that particular rabbit hole for a while.
