Is The Book Thief out already? I thought I had a little while (I'm still reading -- I had to take a break from WWII for a little while).

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
The take on American Hustle that my friends have had was that it went nowhere, that the cast was wasted on a meandering and nothing story.
These are my same set of friends who thought that Black Swan was laughably bad, which when I finally saw it, I had to agree.
My father-in-law was an extra in American Hustle, and it was filmed in Worcester, so we'll definitely be seeing it.
Oh weird, I thought this was the Movies thread!
Inside Llewyn Davis is fantastic, though. I think you'll love it.
12 Years A Slave is also amazing, but it will not make you feel happy, so it kind of depends on what kind of holiday movie you're in the mood for. (Not that Inside Llewyn Davis is a laugh riot either, but it's more light-hearted than 2 hours of slavery, and the music is terrific.)
I LOVED American Hustle ! LOVED.
(And I hated Black Swan )
I am lisah.
Interesting. I still won't see it, because even though there are plenty of people I love in the movie, I hated the trailer. (I liked Black Swan's trailer!)
Most of those who loved the Black Swan seemed to love it as "good trashy fun". Basically they adored the over-the-top badness of it. Which does not really contradict the people who hated the Black Swan. Seems to be no dispute that it is trash. The only question is your type of trash or not. And the answer to that question is a matter of "Your goat may vary"
Whoops, I should have posted that second question in Movies. Sorry! Anyway, I just found out that one scene in American Hustle was filmed in my hometown, so I think I have to go see it now.
I was clearing out my bookshelf, making room, and found my copy of Molly Gloss' The Hearts of Horses. So I reread it.
And it's just as wonderful as the first time through. What a remarkable, flexible, writer she is. I'm sad to see that she seems to have published no novels since then (2008), although I think she's got some stories out.
