Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was reading a lot of cyberpunk when Snow Crash came out and I thought it was like a breath of fresh air. I'd quibble with using "derivative" for "part of a literary movement".

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

ZOMBIES, SUNIL!

(Sorry, I tweeted Seanan that this is what I would reply to your every word today. I keep my promises.)

All the avatar talk now has me earmwormed with "Do You Wannt Date My Avatar?" from The Guild.

I am out of milk. Black coffee. Blech. Store run today. Quick final draft res tweak, clean my frakkin' office, kill zombies, paint hall with 2nd coat, watch Walking Dead.

Good Sunday plans. Let's hope they pan out.

Ha! I should stalk her Twitter more often. Didn't know she'd mentioned me. But getting the ending time of Preview Night wrong was like when she couldn't spell Voorhees. COME ON, SEANAN.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This.

Gibson introduced everyone to cyberspace, but the Metaverse got so many more of the details right.

not your mom's socks.

I'll second the fact that derivative came from a late reader.

Props for naming the main character Hiro Protagonist, though.

That won me. The rest kept me. Diamond age converted me.

move out and draw fire

Yeah, it was that he read it last year, and assumed Stephenson was late to the game for "metaverse" and "avatar" and, you know, Google Earth.
