Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am such a bad ebook user. I only purchase ebook versions of things I've read before.

Because books.

The Luxe books are cracky popcorn for Edith Wharton junkies. The writing's not *bad* and it's pure costume drama and soap opera. Quick, fun reads.

I only purchase ebook versions of things I've read before.

Like Water for Elephants is the first full new-to-me book I've read on the Kindle, and I'm not minding it at all, which surprised me.

Oh, I love reading on the Kindle app; I've got it on all of my devices. It's just that I'm only willing to plunk down money for ebooks if I know I already like them. The last ebook I bought was Night Circus.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

But that's a big part of what I like about it, so more real-er is more better. Or something.

I'm losing track of what happened in which book, but I think it's book 5 where I seriously couldn't believe what happened. Several things, actually (one of which I am *still* not really okay with). And book 6 had a couple of things that made me flat-out bug-eyed with astonishment.

I was so disappointed today -- I caved and ordered a used copy of the next Luxe book. And UPS came and had what looked like a book for me -- and it was a different book I won in a blogger contest. Argh.

I bought the Kindle version of Envy (it was MLK Jr. weekend and the library was closed and I seriously couldn't wait until Tuesday to get it), and I was all set to ask you if you had a Kindle because I would loan it to you, but it turns out that not all Kindle books are loan-able, and apparently the Luxe books aren't. Bah.

Bummer.

I bought the first two used, and somehow I couldn't bear to pay $9.99 for the Kindle version. But now I have to WAIT for it to come. ::sobs::

I checked, and re-checked, just to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding the rules of loaning. But no, the loan-ability of a book is set by the publisher. Damn it.

And that's my publisher! Um, yay. ::sighs::

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I should stop wallowing in ridiculous Anne Rice vampire fluff and read something new.

Why mess with a good thing? And by good thing, I clearly mean "don't make me feel alone in rereading ridiculous Anne Rice." Except I think I finished everything I will likely get through.

Library books!

I am a huge fan of the Kindle for long reads and have the app on all of my devices too. I adore the way it'll ask me if I want to sync. I can read anywhere!

Last night I wandered through man eating lions *and* hostage negotiations.

Why do I always forget about that part?

I am going to finally read Pandora, and then I think I'm calling it quits on the Vampire Chronicles. I had forgotten how tedious Memnoch the Devil gets.

I think I actually liked Pandora, but I can't remember anymore.
