Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

brillig

I've had my Nook in its case for nearly a year, and the elastic is still strong. I rarely take it out, so that may help. It's a book flap type thing, which sometimes gets in the way when I want to read in bed when I'm lying on my side, but it's not too much of an annoyance. The Nook has buttons on both sides, so it doesn't matter which side I have access too.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

After looking at that link I realized I had been picturing a young Woody Harrelson as Finnick. I guess he was stuck in my mind because he is in it?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The DH has one like this [link] and it has protected his Kindle on many motorcycle and airplane trips.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't have a case for my Kindle, but I also don't carry it around with me (since I can read Kindle books on my phone).

OTOH, my laptop case is a Fedex bubble-wrap envelope, so I'm kind of a cheapskate about this sort of thing.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

This is me. Except iPod Touch instead of phone.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I refuse to read on my phone and only read on my tablet if it's a lighting issue. I'm kind of irrationally attached to reading on the Nook.

To Tumblr: No, Jensen Ackles cannot be Finnick. So sad, but we missed that window for sure.

Hey. New board.

I liked the Vorkosigan novels I read (which apparently are Komarr, Diplomatic Immunity, the ones packaged in Miles, Mystery, and Mayhem, and the ones packaged in Young Miles, if my bookshelf holds them all. I also read a collection of Cordelia ones that for some reason I don't see there - I wonder where it went?) but only remember them vaguely, despite it being no more than 1-2 years ago that I read them all. My brother read one of them and hated it - despite reading almost exclusively SF, he has a real hate-on for space opera.

Thrive to spite them

I have a Kindle case - it opens like a book. I think this is the onehttp://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Touch-Leather-Cover/dp/B004SD22PQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326940140&sr=8-3 .

I like having the case I don't worry about it scratching in my purse OR the cats walking on it and turning it on or scratching it.

The case was part of my Christmas present, otherwise I might have picked something like this [link]

My key thing was getting the smallest case possible. It's a leather envelope type--not even that--the Nook slips in and stays by friction, and the end is open so I can charge it in there. This profile, but too tight to take the Nook out by pulling it, there's a tab you yank on. It was the tiniest one I could find-it only adds maybe 5mm all round.

However, buying at the BN store was probably the dumbest financial decision.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I have a Nook cover that looks like a book cover which is the one my mom bought when she got us the Nook. It scares me a bit because it is seemingly flimsy compared to every other cover we have on things (otterboxes on phones, tablets etc.... I think if I could otterbox my life, I might survive better).
