Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Oh, this is all wonderful news to see first thing in the morning. Congratulations, Jilli and Amy.

Yay for Jilli and Amy both!!

And, um, not having read Pratchett before, is he retiring from writing? Why is he not doing any more book tours after this?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And, um, not having read Pratchett before, is he retiring from writing? Why is he not doing any more book tours after this?

He has Alzheimers.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What have I been reading? Zoo City, One Salt Sea, Heartless, and This Isn't What It Looks Like. More people should read the Secret Series! It's so much fun!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Whoa. The National Book Award finalists were just announced this morning, and in the category of Young People's Literature, they announced Lauren Myracle's Shine among the finalists. And now it turns out that there was a mixup and it should have been Franny Billingsley's Chime instead. (Confirmed by a source at the NBA -- they'll be making an announcement shortly.) So they're keeping both books on the list, rather than kicking off Lauren Myracle. Yikes.
