The endorsement by Patricia Briggs makes me want to give the book the benefit of the doubt, but it does sound pretty bad.
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Maybe Briggs lost a bet?
Vampires and zombies have gotten way out of hand. Ninety percent of the young adult aisle at Target is occupied by vampire series.
I would vote to put Jilli in charge. I'd also vote that vampires must meet at least some classical definitions, such as 1) Unconscious during the day 2) Can be killed by a stake to the heart, beheading and sunshine 3) Must carry their native earth with them 4) Don't sparkle 5) Are Evil.
Deviations from these standards should require an explanation, such as gypsy curse.
I liked the show at first(and it got me to read the books, which were quite different...first time I learned that, too) But as the original cast got older, it seemed more like "What Was Michael Landon Worried About This Week?" And that's much less fun when you're eleven.
1) Unconscious during the day
Dracula himself wasn't unconscious during the day. I think he says, in the book, roughly, "It's always daylight somewhere, the sun merely robs me of my special powers."
Deviations from these standards should require an explanation, such as gypsy curse.
I think that one has been played out.
Can Ryan Gosling play Finnick, or am I just susceptible to the hype?
I think he's a little too old. And not at all the way I pictured Finnick, much as I love the Gosling.
He's a little older than I pictured Finnick, but I'm all for it.
WHO THEN????
