Oh, man, that would be fun, Jilli. It could be a YA! Their early days!
I keep meaning to talk to my agent about it to see what she thinks, but then I keep telling myself, no, finish the fiction project first.
Other couples:
Snape/Lily (I can't help it. Sev, you poor bastard.)
Richard/Alec (Swordspoint)
How literally do they mean "couple"?
What about:
- Holmes & Watson
- Peter Wimsey & Harriet Vane
- Wooster & Jeeves
- Robin & Marian
Yeah, I'm not a big sci-fi/fantasy reader, so I have no idea who half those people are.
And the list is for a blog for teen readers. I'd put a same-sex couple on there, but not one that's not canon, like Holmes/Watson. They can figure out slash on their own.
I'm adding Abelard/Heloise, because it's my list and I can, and probably Emma/Knightley, and possibly Katniss/Peeta, even if that's open to discussion.
Since it's a blog for teen readers, I think you should use Tiffany/Preston. They're from Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books, which are YA.
But I've never read those! I don't want to add characters I know nothing about.
Whoa! Brief, giddy flail: Jay Asher (author of the fantastic
Thirteen Reasons Why,
and the new
The Future of Us,
co-written with Carolyn Mackler), mentioned
Cold Kiss
on his fall list of books he's excited about.
FLAIL.
