So that's my dream. That and some stuff about cigars and a tunnel.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Especially when he's not pointing out how spicy his brain is.

Which is when he's totally asleep?

My work is going to sponsor a Sigma event next year, and ask the participating authors for SF stories built around issues the US government needs to be thinking about or start thinking about.

We put the request to Sigma, and whichever members want to participate do so, but we can also request other hard SF authors for the project. I'm on the panel to pick these authors, and right now my suggestions are:

  • Paolo Bacigalupi
  • William Gibson
  • Charles Stross

Any others?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Any others?

Bruce Sterling. He's been one of the most prescient and interesting writers about corporate cultures and tech going forward.

Iain Banks?

Sterling always participates. So yeah.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

What about Vernor Vinge? He was a math professor and computer pioneer who has written about the future of society and artificial intelligence.

Well, whatever you like about Stross he's copying from Banks, but not as well.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

A book for Jilli. The cover's lovely.

And, Jilli, I hope you enjoy the book I sent more than I did. It just didn't ping me like I thought it would.

In what ways, David?

The cover's lovely.

The blurb made my head explode. Boom. Now I'm dead.

Avenge me!
