Anya: It's lovely! I wish it was mine! Oh like you weren't all thinking the same thing. Giles: I'm fairly certain I wasn't.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Come on in, the water's fine!

I seem to always be leaving my own reading to the end of the month, but this month I'm bound and determined to finish Brighton Rock long before that.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Does anyone have a graphic novel recommendation for an 8 year old who really loved the Bone series?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Bone has a couple of spin-offs, Rose and Stupid Stupid Rat Tales, if you missed them.

The other obvious choices are Tintin and Asterix.

information libertarian

Casper (7.5) has just torn through Bone and its sequels, LOVES them. Tintin is still a little hard for her - she's not that great a reader. But I loved Tintin and Asterix as a kid.

Thanks, Tom and flea! I'll look into those when I pick up my box at the comic store this week.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

sj, how about Hereville: How Mirka Got Her Sword? I haven't read the whole thing, but I've flipped through it at the local bookstore and it looks utterly charming. School Library Journal and Booklist both gave it a lot of love, too.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've read Mirka, and loved it.
