So now I'm totally into audiobooks for my commute. What audiobooks do people recommend, specifically because they're good audiobooks?
I listen to audiobooks for my commute too - it's a great way to arrive not-stressed, despite traffic etc. If you can get hold of this version of The Little Stranger [link] , I loved the way it was read, as well as the writing. It's a lovely modern gothic novel, set in the 1950s if I remember right.
Did you see the Girl Genius comic related to the Hugo nom, Jilli? My husband FB'd it...lemme see if I can find...

I'm excited about Feed. I liked it SO much, although, to be fair, I haven't read the others on the list.

Also, P-C, check out the Classic Tales Podcast, which is mostly classic short stories (a lot of horror but also adventure and other things). Most recently he's done Poe's "The Black Cat" and "A Chapter in the History of a Tyrone Family" by Le Fanu. Free weekly episodes are 30-60 minutes depending on the text. Lately, he's done more and more full-length novels ( The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, and just started A Room with a View by Forster), which take about 8-10 episodes.

"You can listen to the books being read on CD."
"Someone reads the book to you?"

"Oh, they're multiple CDs."
"I guess that's good. If you want to...learn something.**"
*Uh, no, they've been around for decades. When they were on tape.
**Reading for fun is SUCH A FOREIGN CONCEPT TO HIM.
