Wesley: We were fighting on opposite sides, but it was the same war. Fred: but you hated her…didn't you? Wesley: It's not always about holding hands.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Isn't there a recent book that has a similar plot to LWFC?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Aimee Bender's latest book, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, has a similar plot device: a character who can taste other people's feelings in the food they cook. Is that what you're thinking of?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Like Water for Hamantaschen?

I thought it was 'Miriam's Kitchen' but a google search only turns up results for a non-profit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is that what you're thinking of?

Yes!

Because books.

This looks pretty good: The School of Essential Ingredients. It's a novel, too.

Because books.

Also Chocolat by Joanne Harris, and if I remember correctly Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club had a whole lot to do with food, too.

The Last Chinese Chef

How funny, one of the salonistas was just raving about A Cup of Light (by the same author) this morning.

Any classics besides Tom Jones? I don't want to have to resort to The Jungle.
