Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Project Gutenberg does offer Kindle format.
Witness my reviews of Shades of Milk and Honey and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The former would probably be of interest to Jane Austen-loving Buffistas.
Ah, you want gutenberg.ca, looks like. Hm, except that doesn't seem to load at the moment.
I don't know that Canadian Project Gutenberg has much more to offer than regular project Gutenberg, except for some Canadiana. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I am also going to download Calibre and see about conversions. Chapters-Indigo, the Canadian online store has books available that aren't available to me on the Kindle store, like Franzen's Freedom, ETA: and Wolf Hall. I should have gotten them to get me a Kobo instead.
Sue, if you need some help with converting, send me an e-mail at my profile addy. I've basically figured out how to convert almost anything to Kindle format using Calibre.
Thanks Gris!
Ahem, I have the first book HP on my Kindle. I paid nothing for it and it's in beautiful PDF form. The minute it's released in an official form, I'll buy it (the whole series, most likely). Anyway, if anyone wants to know how, email me. I might delete this later.
And Megan probably won't be my friend anymore!!!
Chex:
SJ, finished "Moonlight Mile" and forget to tell you! I liked it a lot, especially the ending. It was a little implausible in parts, but I found all of his books to be. Still, I am going to miss Patrick and Angie!
Now, onto Richard Price's "Freedomland". This is a bit of a test for me because I have it in hardcopy and tried several different times to get past about page 60, despite liking it a lot. So I am wondering if the same thing will happen on my Magic Kindle.
Javachick -- yes, me! I have the Kindle app on my new smartphone.
