Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I bought the Girl Genius-related Corset Inspector Badge for The Boy for his birthday: [link] It is EXCELLENT.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

OMG, my Nook has shelves! I did not know that. I don't have enough purchased books to need to organise, but my free stuff really needs categorising.

Heh... I was that excited when I discovered how to use "Collections" on my Kindle! I love my Kindle!

I have really done very little with it, other than just buy and read. I'm ashamed of myself.

OMG me too. Because before I figured that out, I was all "I need organization! I can't just have a LONG LIST of books, I'm just archiving everything I've already read!"

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

The shelves are awesome. But I need subshelves! There's a shelf for the SO and a shelf for me. But then, he put stuff on his shelf that I will have on mine too. So now the main page just has all the same stuff, but twice. I need to do some reorging. I've barely bought anything, it's all free stuff right now. And I need to get reading.

AND I ordered this great deal, 15 piece Nook accessory kit for like 3 bucks, and I broke my Amazon boycott to do it. And the originating company had overcommitted. So instead of backordering, or letting us know, or something, they just cancelled a bunch of orders. Including mine.

So now I still want to order an accessory pack, with like, screen protectors and a car charger and stuff, but it'll cost me 20 bucks instead of 3, and it won't get here before the trip. Blah.

Oh, yeah, and I don't want to archive, because then I'd have to redownload, and for me, the bandwidth is actually the biggest cost of the damn thing because of the wonky 3g. Well, that and it turns out I'm not actually getting all that much from the store. So working 3g wouldn't have helped me.

Amazon wants you to honour your stance. Don't fight it.

I hadn't realised how many free books I'd downloaded. I'm a crazy person. It's not like I've started reading any of the hundred+ that are lying there.

But, you know, if I ever need the Yellow Fairy Book, I know where it is.

ita, did you know that the LAPL allows you to download free books too. For a short period of time, that is (like 21 days). I've been using lots of those books too.
