I've bought a few new releases on the Kindle - cheaper than the hardback and more instantly gratifying than waiting for the library's copy to become available.
'Sleeper'
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
The only characters I remember clearly are Death and Susan. And...Death of Rats?
Okay, I'll grab Guards! Guards! if it's available as an ebook. I've just realised I'm way behind on Dragaera books, and grabbed three of those. I think I should be set up well for vacation.
Yeah, I`m a Vimes girl myself, although I also love Granny Weatherwax and Susan. So I am just finishing up a reread of the guards series, although I`m missing my favorite from that, Night Watch. I am not up to it in my buying order yet. I don`t know what I`m going to do with my Pratchett buying plan once I get my Nook. I think I`ll have to see where my reading habits lie overall. I am tempted by those giant compendium purchases where it`s like three bucks for fifty books. I know I can get much of that on Gutenberg, but I will have to see if it`s more convenient this way. Oh, can you get books straight from Gutenberg over 3G? You can`t I bet, huh?
It`s supposed to come tomorrow but it`s not in Phoenix yet tonight, so I am dubious. The SO`s gift was delayed, late flight in Jersey.
I will pimp for the Tiffany Aching books, since that's how I came to Pratchett.
Also, The Wee Free Men is super funny.
"Waily, Waily!"
I read one of the Tiffany books (Wintersmith) and really liked it: I need to get the rest.
Oh, Tiffany! The Hogfather is bringing me the latest one (from the UK, because we're picky about cover art here at the House o' Reason), but I've been told that the shipping elves are being slow.
I love the Discworld books, and my favorites keep changing. At the moment it's either Carpe Jugulem or Hat Full of Sky.
The Death books are my favourite, especially Soul Music, but I love the witches ones too.
Soul Music rocks. Susan convincing the wizards that, yes, she is who she says she is, is a lovely scene. And that last concert. Wow.
Oh, can you get books straight from Gutenberg over 3G? You can`t I bet, huh?
Try navigating to this mobile site: [link] on your Nook. It should work.
Only I can`t do web over the 3g, right? The point of me stumping up the extra dosh was so I didn`t have to use my cellular modem bandwidth over wifi to get my books. Only I forgot I wouldn`t be buying most of my books from the BN store. Well, it should arrive today. We`ll see; I`ll play with it. Better go check my tracking status like the obsessive person I am. I mean, it could technically have arrived already, though I know by experience it`ll be more like 7 since I`m so far out here.
