Suzanne Collins just
blew off Boggs's legs.
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS???
On a related note, I've been debating the narrative merit of
Peeta's brainwashing
as it related to the
love triangle, since it appears to make a relationship with Peeta nigh impossible.
But with the introduction of the
"Real or Not Real?" game, I'm seeing Peeta as a metaphor for the Districts who have been fed misinformation for generations. They, too, have to play that game now.
Also, I am becoming very anxious and worried about
President Coin. Are they just trading dictators?
P.S. I am amused that Collins still worked in
the Hunger Games with the assault on the Capitol and all the traps. LIKE THE ONE THAT JUST BLEW OFF BOGGS'S LEGS. DAMMIT I LIKE HIM.
I dunno if I should put this in Lit or Tech, but I have to share: I am SO SUPER EXCITED to travel on vacation with my Kindle! I got a huge bunch of books from a friend (mostly just books I already own in ...book form) and have downloaded a bunch of books from Amazon (ouch my wallet!) and so now I have over 100 books on my kindle, waiting to be read on the plane and while traveling (including Rick Steve's Eastern Europe!). This is going to be SO MUCH MORE AWESOME than last time I flew internationally and took a whole bag of books with...I will travel so light! God willing and the kindle don't break, there will be NO REASON to run out of books! (I figure I'll still bring one or two regular ones for the few minutes of takeoff and landing that I can't read on kindle)
meara, I bring either a paperback or one (okay, two because, hello, return flights...) magazine for those times. My bags are could be so much lighter when traveling now.
From the comments on Mark Reads:
Just gotta say that Katniss + Peeta = Best Portmanteau Couple Name ever…. Peeniss lol
I about died laughing when I read that!
SHE KILLED PRIM???
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK.
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK.
And there it is. Welcome to the nadir. The most pointless, grim part of a book filled with pointless grimness. Okay, Collins,
WAR IS BAD.
We GET it.
yeah...that pissed me off.
Welcome to the nadir.
That's at least heartening.
I was close enough to the end that I thought I could just finish, but I just read enough into the next chapter to confirm what had happened and was like, you know what, I really can't go on right now. What the hell.
Oh P-C, right there with ya, even though it's been over a month since I finished it. I think I may have tossed the book across the room.
Steph, I'm over half way with Mortal Coil, and OMG I don't think I like where this is going. I can only read 5 or 10 pages a day 'cause it's my lunchtime reading but man, I'm afraid!
