Is that...bad?
It's about 100 years before the coining of the word, much less the concept.
'Trash'
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

As I said, lack of context on my part. Not only did I not finish Boneshaker, I didn't retain much about what I did read, other than...zombies were created by poison gas? And that's about it. I didn't even realize what general time frame it was set in.

Gentrification has happened since ancient times!
I'm two chapters into Mockingjay and I need a xanax already.

I hear it ends with Katniss attacked by puppies and kittens, with little candy bags around their necks. And everybody says, "Whew, that was a close one" and gets high and dances in the moonlight.
Something like that.

EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE.
I'm halfway through the book, and, shit, Peeta's been BRAINWASHED? Christ on a stick, I, uh, kind of mostly assumed that the rebels would triumph and the Capitol would go down, but I am unsure now. Why did I ever think that? Orwell and Huxley didn't do it. Oh no. But...but... they didn't have a revolution! It can be done! DIE DYSTOPIA DIE! It...happens, right? Sometimes.
I kind of love the Capitol, though, from a terrible narrative dystopia standpoint. They are a lot of fun.
Here's something I find interesting. Katniss is a Chosen One, like Buffy, like Aang, like Harry, like so many before her, but it's because of who she is and what she does, not just a twist of fate. I like that a lot.
P-C, I had your exact whitefonted reaction. Like, how could I have been so foolish as to believe the rebels would just handily overthrow the Capitol and there wouldn't be even HIGHER LEVELS OF TRAUMA.
Being Katniss sucks WAY more than being Frodo.
Yeah, I said it.
t edit P-C, I totally was typing the Frodo thing before I saw your Chosen One post, because I had the window open for a while since my co-worker was talking to me.
Have Hunger Games fans seen this? Some fans filmed a very important scene from the book (if you haven't read the book, don't watch it, obvs). I'm more impressed with the filmmaking than the acting, but it's not bad, if a little melodramatic.
