I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Ohhhh Boneshaker looks like it would be a good read. I will have to look for it.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Boneshaker is all sorts of good fun. And Cherie Priest is a very nifty person.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Speaking of things Steampunk, Meara & I totally found a steampunky pub in Oakland tonight. Definitely recommended.

And I really want to read Boneshaker, but not until after I read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So Bad Monkeys is pretty sweet. A quick, fun read.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Popularity and privacy of e-books create spike in purchases of romance novels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I need to order something form Amazon UK. Is there anything in particular I need to do to pay the pounds, or will it just deduct my dollars from my one-click at the going rate?

It'll convert them automatically. You may want to check -- most credit cards charge an extra 1-3% for "foreign currency conversion." (A quick check suggests that Capital One doesn't, but I'm not positive.)

Ann, that's a ferret.

Hec, you also might want to check into shipping charges. I've ordered a few CDs from HMV in the UK, and shipping turned reasonably priced CDs into very expensive CDs.

Yeah, I've actually had books shipped free to friends in France who then ship the box to me to avoid paying essentially double for what you're getting.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Phillip Pullman: [link]

I have my own issues with his books, but I adore his response to the "how dare you" kind of question about the title of his latest. [The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ]. "No one has the right to live their life without being shocked."
